About Our School
Pathways Academy is an Alternative Education program in the Columbia County School District. We are home to students with behavior, academic, and attendance barriers. We also serve students with special needs to overcome their own barriers.
The goal of the Pathways Academy is to improve a student’s academic performance, attendance, and discipline. The curriculum is based on the standards approved by the State of Florida and in the Columbia County Student Progression Plan. We have both traditional academic instruction as well as virtual instruction. Our virtual curriculum is primarily provided by Edgenuity.
In additional to a rigorous academic focus; Pathways Academy provides support and counseling to students. A behavior modification program is used to assist students with learning to develop and modify their behavior. Students may be assigned to Pathways Academy for a minimum of 18 Weeks. Transition back to the regular setting is contingent upon students earning their way back, based on improved academics, behavior, and attendance.
The Columbia County School Board approved Pathways Academy’s “school uniform”. We believe a uniform will allow our students the chance to focus on academics and improved behavior. The uniform will be; polo or collared oxford style shirts with sleeves. Shirts may be any solid color. The shirts may not have any decorations, advertisements, brand names or any other insignia’s. Bottoms will be black, blue or khaki in color. Dress slacks, shorts or skirts may be worn. Jackets, cardigans or sweatshirts may be worn during cold weather over the uniform shirt. These items must be solid color with no decorations, advertisements, brand names or other insignia’s.
We treat every student fair, firm, and consistently. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students!
